Born in 1987, David Lowther is a self-taught artist from North-east England. Fascinated by wildlife, particularly birds, he works in pastel and chalk to depict the subject with vibrancy and in detail.
David has developed a particular interest in cranes and the efforts being made to secure their habitats and future survival and has worked closely with the WWT/RSPB Great Crane Project, producing artwork for use in educational and promotional material. He was also awarded a Society of Wildlife Artists bursary to complete an art project involving visiting and working with the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Beginning in 2009, David’s work has been displayed throughout Britain and the United States, and was included in the prestigious 2010 Woodson Art Museum ‘Birds in Art’ exhibition.
