Esther Merchan is a professional wildlife illustrator based in Spain. She studied Natural History Illustration at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art & Design and Fine Art at Salamanca University, Spain.
She has been working as a freelance illustrator for the past 15 years, and her work has been widely published by some of the best publishers in Spain and UK. Her list of clients varies from wildlife and conservation organisations such as CBD Habitat (illustrating a guide of the rare Iberian lynx) to magazines both for children and adults. She uses different mediums such as watercolours, pencil or ink as well as working digitally.
Esther lives and works in the Natural Park Arribes del Duero, Salamanca, western Spain, where she enjoys the wildlife and rural village life with her British husband and two young sons.
