Primarily a self-taught artist, in 1991 Joel Merriner won a place on a Wildlife & Natural History Illustration course, where there was emphasis on animal behaviour and anatomy.
In 2008, Joel was selected as a member of the Artists for Conservation Foundation, and has produced work for wildlife organisations worldwide. He has sold work in Australia and New Zealand, and on both sides of the Atlantic.
Joel is particularly drawn for inspiration to upland areas, however the West Country remains close to his heart.
He is currently creating a body of work based on observations from Bodmin Moor, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
