Juliet Corley spent her childhood in Malaysia. Taught at home by her mother (a talented artist) she attributes both her artistic skills and her wildlife conservation interests to a lively and inspired early
education. Childhood reef trips led to SCUBA training and a degree in marine biology. Juliet still accompanies marine research expeditions whenever she can and has painted more than 200 species of tropical marine fish, focussing on accurate true-to-life detail and on capturing fish in their natural swimming posture. She uses watercolours and gouache to bring out the depth of colour in her brightly-hued subjects, and has used her scientific training to
produce taxonomic line drawings in pen and ink.
Juliet has had illustrations published in media ranging from field
guides and scientific papers, to boardwalk signs and a CD-ROM. She still has a love of the tropics and now divides her time between the UK and tropical northern Australia.
