Neil Patey has been an artist and illustrator for nearly 20 years. He graduated from Loughborough University in the early nineties as a graphic designer, but soon became more interested with the more illustrative side of the business and now paints full time.
He works mainly in acrylics, but has also adopted a more contemporary style using mixed media. Birds are Neil's speciality, although he also does botanical studies, fish, animals, insects and landscape works. Most of Neil's bird studies are commissioned by buyers in Oman and Dubai, and he has also been employed by the National Trust on several occasions to paint architectural and botanical studies.
Neil's work is incredibly detailed, individually shading and lighting every feather, hair or scale. He exhibits throughout the South West, raising funds for The Barn Owl Trust, which aims to protect the barn owl and its environment. He lives in Dartmouth on the South Devon coast.
